CAGED Ghislaine Maxwell has been targeted for death in prison just like her perverted boss Jeffrey Epstein — and has narrowly survived at least one vicious attempt to kill her, sources squeal.

The convicted 60-year-old child sex trafficker, who faces up to 55 years behind bars at sentencing later this month, was moved into the general prison population at Brooklyn’s federal Metropolitan Detention Center in early May after two years of protective solitary confinement.

Within days, she was the target of a brutal attack while guards apparently looked the other way, say sources.

“Just before lights out one evening, Ghislaine’s cellmate wasn’t there and two bigger, heavy-set women jumped her,” blabs a jailhouse snitch.

One grabbed her from behind and clamped her hands over her mouth, muzzling her while the other stabbed at her side with a shank knife.

But Ghislaine was stronger than they realized and writhed and thrashed, knocking the makeshift knife out of the attacker’s hand.

The women were beating and kneeing her when her cellmate returned and helped fight them off.

Ghislaine was shaken up and crying uncontrollably. You could hear her sobs all up and down the wing all night.

Incredibly, the guards were nowhere to be found during the attack, says the snitch, who says Ghislaine was later treated for superficial wounds.

While a guard followed protocol by taking a report from Ghislaine, who reportedly didn’t recognize her attackers, sources say the paperwork was never officially filed.

Now, experts warn more attacks are likely. Former Chicago cop turned private eye Paul Huebl says Ghislaine’s notoriety and conviction as a child sex creep puts her in “grave danger.

High-profile prisoners always become targets of fellow inmates who want to become famous by attacking a celebrity,” he says.

That goes double for a woman who molested children or helped another person like Epstein molest children. People connected to that sort of thing do not do well in prison.

Ghislaine also is a target because she knows Epstein’s darkest secrets.

Billionaire pedophile Epstein, 66, died under suspicious circumstances — the guards were gone and the security cameras weren’t working — at another federal prison in New York while awaiting trial for sex trafficking in 2019.

Officially, his death was ruled a suicide, but some investigators, including a world-class coroner, said Epstein was murdered to protect powerful pals who played with his under-age harem girls.

His associates included Britain’s Prince Andrew, former President Bill Clinton, Microsoft tycoon Bill Gates and others, who all deny knowledge of Epstein’s perverted crimes.

But Epstein’s closest cronies, French model agency kingpin Jean-Luc Brunel and movie mogul Steve Bing, have also died mysteriously in what experts say were staged suicides. And as GLOBE reported last week, Clinton’s money man Mark Middleton, who acted as a go-between for the former president and the pervert, was shotgunned to death this spring in what investigators say was yet another bogus suicide.

Now an insider fears Maxwell will be silenced forever, too, because “she knows too much.
