Slyly pushing for Michelle to run for White House in Biden’s place

Although Obama has publicly backed President Joe Biden for a second term, he has reneged in private, insiders claim

Barack Obama secretly rallying with congressional support for his wife Michelle’s presidential quest — despite having publicly backed his ex-veep for a second term, political insiders dish.

Sources say the 61-year-old former commander-in-chief was caught red-handed hosting a series of hush-hush meetings with Democratic congressional bigwigs and former administration staffers at his Washington, D.C., office to secretly test support for Michelle. “Barack recognizes the gravity of the situation with Joe’s disappointing poll numbers,” says a Beltway insider.

He had hoped that the president would have rallied and come into his own at this point, but that clearly hasn’t happened. With 2024 growing closer and closer, he had to act since he apparently fears Joe is getting too old and frail to win. Officially, the stated purpose of the closed-door meetings, conducted over cheese and crackers, was for Barack to give advice, get to know the younger Democratic lawmakers, and reacquaint himself with what they were hearing in their home districts, the source snitches.

All three members of the Democratic House leadership — Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark and Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar — as well as rising party stars like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Haley Stevens were reportedly at the get-togethers. Barack wants to ensure that all the players are in Michelle’s corner before any final decisions are made,” says one insider. It’s the smart play since bucking a sitting president is a dicey proposition. Sources say the meets were unprecedented for Barack — who has mostly kept a low profile since leaving the White House. “Barack has been a reliable stump supporter for Democrats, but he’s been wary about stepping on Joe’s toes because of all the bad blood between them.” says the Beltway insider.“

The fact that he held these meetings suggests a definite change for him. Sources note Barack betrayed Joe before when the former law school l professor endorsed ed Hillary Clinton for the 2016 contest despite Joe’s intention to seek the Oval Office. Since then tensions between the two men have worsened, say insiders with Barack upstaging the prez during the few events they appeared at together and Joe refusing to attend his old boss star-studded 60th birthday party in Martha’s Vineyard during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Barack’s scaled-down birthday bash was a black eye for the administration at a time when Joe was urging the public to take precautions,” says a source. It made Democrats look hypocritical and elitist. Sources say Barack is also in secret back-channel talks to make Democratic candidate Robert F. K Kennedy Jr. — who recently topped both President Biden and former President Donald T Trump in favorability polls — his wife’s runn running mate. “She probably doesn’t need it, but it couldn’t hurt to add a little Kennedy mystique to the ticket,” notes a party insider.

As previously reported, sources say desperate Democrats have been begging Michelle to run in 2024 despite her intention to focus on conquering Tinseltown with a host of cash-churning media deals. But a party insider says all bets are now off with an NBC News poll fixing 80-year-old Joe’s approval rating at an anemic 41.5 percent and indicating a stunning 50 percent of Americans are opposed to him seeking a second term. Another poll shows him losing to Trump if a third-party candidate enters the contest.

“Michelle has always been against running for office because she’s been deathly afraid Barack would be assassinated,” says a party insider. But the stakes are so high that she thinks it’s time to risk it all. While Barack has already endorsed Biden, he’s reneged in private and will publicly throw Joe overboard in a heartbeat if he thinks that the election is on the line. Adds a second insider: Democrats say somebody has to stop Trump, and Barack knows Michelle is the best person to do it! If she announced, the election would go immediately from a hotly contested footrace to a landslide.
